A MINIMUM OF 20% OF NATIONAL PRODUCTION FOR EACH IVORIAN TELEVISION IVOIRIENNE

A new audiovisual law is imminent in Côte d'Ivoire, as part of the full liberalization of this sector. It was announced by the Minister of Communication Affousiata Bamba-Lamine (photo), on the occasion of the World Television Day, 21 November 2016.

The Minister said that new TV channels will have to produce a certain amount of content. "This law makes it very clear that all those who want to be make (television) edition in Côte d'Ivoire will do it under the condition of having a program that contains 20% of the national production", explained Affoussiata Bamba-Lamine.

This measure aims to stimulate investment in the national audiovisual sector, knowing that 10 new channels will be authorized in the first phase of the liberalization of television. Applications are currently being studied by the High Authority for Audiovisual Communication (HACA).
